Visit the Villa Ratti and its garden

  • The from to

The Villa Ratti is the house where Berthe Morisot lived during her second stay in Nice in 1888-1889.

She depicted the façade and garden in a number of works (sketches, watercolours and oil on canvas) that will be on show in the exhibition. Visiting this emblematic site will be an opportunity to follow in Berthe Morisot’s footsteps, to discover the social and geographical context of her stay and to take a critical look at both the artist’s aesthetic choices in depicting this place, and the evolution of the surrounding landscape through comparison with her works.

Situated on the hill of Cimiez, these visits to the Villa Ratti are organised in partnership with the ICRAN association of astrophysicists and guided by Véronique Thuin-Chaudron, a doctor of history, in charge of research at the Inventory of Nice.
